PaisLeigh Hurst, a 7 year old little girl which was from Harrodsburg KY , daughter of Toby Hurst and Jennifer Long was diagnosed May 25, 2020 with a rare form of sarcoma cancer called malignant peripheral nerve seath tumor. (In the muscle cells of her throat, which over time led to her lung, ear canals and then her brain) PaisLeigh spent most of her time in UK hospital where she received 6 rounds of Chemo, followed by 45 days of radiation. In January 2021 her scans came back clear and she rang the bell January 27 2021. July 2021 she became sick again and we was referred to Cincinnati children's hospital where we were told there was nothing else left to do as far as treatment and at that point they agreed the best thing for PaisLeigh was Quantity over quantity, chemo would just make her sicker then she already was and she deserved to live and be a kid with what time she had left. She also asked her dad and I not to make her go through chemo and radiation again especially if it wasn't going to help her so we as her parents and biggest supporters respected her wishes. We were then referred back to UK oncology where she was then put in hospice care and 2 1/2 weeks later August 15 2021 at 2:49a.m is when she took her last breath laying in my arms surrounded by her family

In 2021 Jason Coulter was contacted by PaisLeigh's grandfather, (Jeff Reardon) after PaisLeigh's passing. He asked if Jason could write a song in memory of PaisLeigh. Jason began writing with his friend Marty Denton. The song was complete and released in December 2022.
